Chitose Jinja is believed to be one of 5 powerspots in Hokkaido and one of the strongest in Japan. Situated in the Aoba park with the pure Chitose river right next to it, surrounded by cherry blossom or red autumn leaves, you will hardly ever find a more picturesque place. This shrine was originated in 1658 and built in 1805. Take a few minutes to feel its power and wisdom, find inner peace and courage, recharge your batteries.
The Gods of water and food enshrined in Chitose Jinja are believed to help you with your business and to protect local farmers and fishers. Moreover, the spring water at this shrine is believed to be sacred and bring luck and is called Sachii no Mizu (water of happiness).
The shrine hosts the festival in summer, which gathers thousands of locals. You can enjoy local food, entertainment, fireworks and the most interesting – the performance of the oldest orchestra in the world – Gagaku.
