TRIP HOKKAIDO

Asahikawa Ski Resort

rect

Powder heaven – Asahikawa!
As many of you might already know – Japan has the best powder snow in the world!
But when searching for the best place to go on a Japan ski trip most of you would find information about the Hakuba resort in Nagano or Niseko in Hokkaido. But that’s not all!

Asahikawa can boast of about 14 meters of powder each year! Being the second biggest city in Hokkaido, Asahikawa ski resorts are easy to access which makes them perfect for a day trip or a short snow vacation.

Ski resorts are usually pretty isolated, located far from big cities and infrastructure which makes a ski trip extremely pricy. The main advantage of such secluded ski resorts is without a doubt a ski-in/ski-out opportunity, proximity from the lifts. And as you might imagine, lots of people appreciate that, making such resorts overcrowded.
If you are an advanced skier or snowboarder, and getting on the snow is the first thing on your mind in the morning – paying extra for dining, accommodation and overpriced lift passes is worth it!
But what if you are an enthusiast, beginner or have even never seen snow before?!
Asahikawa is the best choice for you! Stay in the city, choose the best accommodation for you and your budget, go sightseeing, visit hot springs, allow yourself a bar crawl, choose from numerous local cafes, bars, izakayas, and restaurants for the best dining experience. And the next day take a short ride on a resort bus to the mountain. The resorts we’d like to introduce you are located within a 30 minutes ride from Asahikawa station and are based on Mount Kamui (800m).

KAMUI SKILINKS

First and the best known is Kamui Ski Links! Every year it gets about 8 meters of top quality shiny powder snow while having a surprising number of blue sky days which makes skiing, sledding and snowboarding there a picturesque pleasure.

Kamui Ski Links offers 25 courses for all skiing and snowboarding abilities.
To get to the top you can use one of 5 lifts and a gondola. On the premises, you can find a ski/snowboard gear rental store and a school for both adults and kids.
If you get tired – have a bowl of hot ramen or crispy pizza!

Santapresentpark

The second resort we want to draw your attention to is Santa Present Park.
This resort presents a ski slope called MALLOWS equipped with 3 lifts and 6 lit-up courses for day and night skiing!
The best thing about this resort is its kids-friendly concept! Professional and kind instructors will make your children feel confident on snow and enjoy skiing, snowboarding or sledding.
As Santa Present Park is most popular among locals, it’s never too crowded, noisy or dangerous. So we recommend coming here with your whole family or having a romantic date while enjoying the view, winter nature and fresh air.
Affordable rentals, lessons and lift passes will definitely add to your first snow experience!
