The Winter Wonderland – Sapporo Snow Festival.

In February Sapporo annually hosts the biggest snow festival in Hokkaido – Sapporo Yuki Matsuri. It is spread through 3 sites around the city that every year gather over 2 million!! visitors from all around the world.
If you plan to visit Japan during ski season – you simply must visit this amazing event.
Hundreds of snow sculptures along Odori Park and ice sculptures at Susukino site made by world’s best sculptors are presented together with those made by volunteers, amateurs and enthusiasts. You can even try to make one yourself!
Climb some of them, slide from some and even drink some hot drinks in some…There is really a lot for you to experience.
Each and every year the program and the theme of the festival is different. In 2019, there were many activities dedicated to Japan pop culture and the first virtual idol Hatsune Miku. You could even enjoy her performance or play snowballs with her in a high-tech exhibition. Also, you could find a Star Wars themed sculpture anticipating the new episode’s release. So, who knows what will be there next year, but we can say for sure – it will be amazing!
Every year you can expect to find all possible Hokkaido delis, snow jump competition, big concert, pop culture fest and have a lot of fun.
